Akpabio Admits Rigging PDP Primaries

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has confessed to manipulating the result of a 2007 Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial primary election in the state by replacing the actual winner with the name of his preferred candidate who lost in the primary.

A delegation of the National Good Governance Tour visited the state on March 9, and Akpabio in the spirit of good governance was honest with them, and made the confession.

Kidnapped female Nigerian journalist freed

A female journalist at a Nigerian state-owned television station who was kidnapped last week as she left work with her baby and maid was released Sunday, her professional union said.

Olubunmi Lawal Oke, a reporter and newscaster with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), was taken Thursday by four men who blocked her car as she was leaving her office in Akure, capital of the southwestern Ondo state.

“I confirm that she has been released. I spoke with her early this morning shortly after she was set free by her abductors,” Rotimi Obamuwagun, vice president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, told AFP.

Well, that notion was part of Allure’s first-ever anti-aging survey in the April 2013 issue, and the results show that most African Americans do indeed celebrate their age-defying looks.

The survey found that 86 percent of the African-American participants thought that they aged the best, compared to 81 percent of Asians, 53 percent of Hispanics/Latinos and 46 percent of Whites/Caucasians. We clearly don’t lack self-esteem.

The Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu’s posters for the 2015 governorship race pasted along streets has angered the Nsukka elders in Enugu State who said it was the turn of Nsukka to produce the next governor of the state.
