Hausa Residents Flee Onitsha City Following Kano Bombing



On Tuesday, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike said that there will be no reprisal on northerners in the South-East after the bus bombing in Kano on Monday that killed more than 30 people.

Uwazuruike is the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

Frog That Gives Birth through Mouth to be Brought Back from Extinction



Researchers in Australia have reached a major milestone in resurrecting a unique species of frog that gives birth through its mouth, and vanished into extinction 30 years ago.
In what became known as the ” Lazarus Project” at the University of Newcastle in Australia, scientists have resurrected the genome of a gastric-brooding frog, which became extinct in 1983. Also knows as Platypus frogs, the female amphibian, after external fertilization by the male, would swallow its eggs, brood its young in its stomach and gave birth through its mouth.

45 People Dead As Boat Carrying 166 Sinks In Nigeria



At least 45 people died when a wooden boat carrying 166 people from southeastern Nigeria capsized off the coast, a doctor said on Tuesday.

The boat left on Friday from the town of Oron, in Akwa-Ibom state, and was heading across the Gulf of Guinea to Gabon, in central Africa, when it capsized 40 nautical miles offshore, emergency services and traders said.

MASSOB (Biafra) Threatens Civil War Over Kano Bombings



The leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and new Igbo leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has warned Nigeria that Ndigbo would be forced to defend itself from the recent killings in various parts of the North.

Chief Uwazuruike, while reacting to the bomb blasts in Kano yesterday said the Igbo had been pushed to the wall by the Boko Haram insurgency, adding that the people would be left with no other option than to defend themselves.

  President Goodluck Jonathan has indicated his ready to try the patience of Nigerians again, saying he will definitely increase the prices of petroleum products very soon.
“We cannot continue to waste resources meant for a greater number of Nigerians to subsidize the affluent middle class, who are the main beneficiaries,” he said at a conference in Lagos on Monday.
President Jonathan said he will "discuss" with stakeholders before taking the action. What he failed to say is how he intend to fight the mammoth corruption and manipulation in the oil sector.
So far, Jonathan has also failed to implement the report of the Nuhu Ribadu-led Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force which last year made important recommendations on how to correct problems in the sector.
