World's fattest man dramatic 650 pounds weight loss

The world’s fattest man is now the world’s biggest weight loser after losing 650 pounds.

The former world's fattest man celebrated a milestone, after shedding nearly 650 pounds.

Paul Mason, 51, lost two thirds of his total weight of nearly 1,000 pounds after gastric bypass surgery funded by the National Health Service or NHS, which reduces the stomach to the size of an egg.

The former postal service employee from Ipswich, Suffolk, now weighs about 330 pounds and said that his goal is to reach 200 pounds. "I have still a long way to go," Mason said, who promised to go from the fattest man in the world to the world’s biggest weight loser.

Mason's medical bills so far are believed to have cost taxpayers more than $1.6 million. He is now fighting the NHS to fund a new surgery that would cost up to $50,000 to remove loose skin left after his substantial weight loss.
Mason used to consume 20,000 calories a day, about 10 times the recommended daily level, on a diet of supersized take out foods, fried foods and forty bags of chips.

But after surgery, he threw away his electric wheelchair and switched to a diet of vegetables and small portions. Mason blames childhood bullying for his binge eating disorder and said that it was exacerbated by the death of his father in 1986.

“I am surprised that he did not have a heart attack from eating so many unhealthy foods. I applaud him for making the decision to stop his bad habits and he is sticking to it. I hope he has the strength to stay on his current diet,” Mary Lee Jensen, 59, of London, England told YourJewishNews.com after seeing the before and after photos of Paul Mason.

Firefighters once removed the wall outside his house and used a forklift in order to place him in an ambulance when he needed a hernia operation when he weighed nearly 800 pounds in 2002.
