Former Benue State Deputy Governor Ajene dies in London hospital

Reports reaching our newsdesk, indicate that former Deputy Governor Former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Prince Ogiri Ajene is dead.

According to the report, Ajene who was Akume’s deputy between 1999-2007, passed on in London after a brief illness.

Details of his death are still being awaited, as we are making efforts to contact his Special Assistant.

11-year old boy nabbed attempting to set mosque ablaze in Abuja

The Nyanya Police Division yesterday afternoon arrested an 11-year-old boy (names withheld) for allegedly trying to set ablaze the Area B/C Mosque, near Customs Quarters in Nyanya, Abuja.

According to Zubairu Mohammed – Imam of the mosque, the boy had earlier set fire to one of the Mosque’s Qur’anic classrooms without knowing that a security man was sleeping inside and had noticed the fire.

He said the security man after putting off the fire, sighted the boy holding a gallon of fuel as well as a box of matches near the main Mosque and apprehended him.

Tinted Glass: Obtaining Permit Is Free Of Charge – IG

The Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr Mohammed Abubakar, says that obtaining police permit for the use of vehicles with tinted glasses “is free of charge and does not attract any charge”.

Abubakar made the clarification on Friday while speaking at a meeting with Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of the 12 zonal commands in Nigeria.

He said that the meeting was to review security challenges, including terrorism, kidnapping, cultism and communal clashes in parts of the country in order to strategise on how to address the challenges.

The court upheld a previous ruling that found she had deceived her husband and increased the compensation she must now pay for the emotional damage she caused him.

Imo State Governor: Okorocha Sustains Head Injury In Road Accident

The convoy of the Governor of Imo State; Mr Rochas Okorocha has been involved in a head-on collision in Orlu local government area of the state and the governor sustained minor head injuries.

The Governor was on a scheduled inspection tour to some state projects in the area when the accident occurred.

A statement signed by the media aide to the Governor; Ebere Ozoukwa, stated that the Governor’s convoy was involved in the accident in Orlu town in Orlu Local government area of the state.

Son of Sokoto Deputy Governor Dies in Road Accident

Lukman Mukthar Shagari, the second son of the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Mukthar Shagari, died yesterday in a horrific road accident.

The 28-year-old Muhthar it was reported was on his way to Sokoto from his base in Abuja when he lost control of the car which he was driving.  Luqman and a friend simply named as Ghaddaffi  died instantly. A third friend  at the back miraculously survived the accident.

The Mystery house belongs to – Aliyu Abubakar

The mystery surrounding ownership of the imposing edifice on Gana Street, Maitama District of Abuja, adjacent to Transcorp-Hilton Hotel, has been removed.  The architectural masterpiece is owned by Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar, the chairman of AA Oil Limited, LEADERSHIP investigations revealed.

Aliyu told LEADERSHIP that he acquired the plot of land where the structure was erected in 2005 from an indigene of Zamfara State at a cost of N1 billion. Aliyu, who trained as a building technologist before venturing into oil business, said that he financed the building from his personal savings, as he did not obtain any mortgage from any bank.

Nneoma Atueyi, who got married to Enugu State Governor’s son, Nnamdi Chime, on Saturday April 13, has received a brand new 2013 Range Rover from her father-in-law, Sullivan Chime as wedding gift.

The price of the car is about $83,500 (about N13million).

The couple held their traditional wedding on Friday, April 12, 2013 in Nnewi, Anambra State. Their white wedding was held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Enugu.

FBI: These Are Our Boston Bombing Suspects

The Federal Bureau of Investigation posted to YouTube Thursday surveillance camera footage which it says shows the bureau's two suspects in its investigation of Monday's attack on the Boston Marathon.

The bureau is requesting the public's help in identifying the suspects, but said the two men are considered armed and extremely dangerous. It urged the public not to approach them.
FBI Special Agent Richard Deslauriers said during a press conference that one of the men in the video, seen wearing a white cap, was recorded placing a bag at the location of the second blast just moments before that explosion.
