NASA's planet-hunting Kepler telescope is broken, potentially jeopardizing the search for other worlds where life could exist outside our solar system.

If engineers can't find a fix, the failure could mean an end to the $600 million mission's search, although the space agency wasn't ready to call it quits Wednesday. The telescope has discovered scores of planets but only two so far are the best candidates for habitable planets.

"I wouldn't call Kepler down-and-out just yet," said NASA sciences chief John Grunsfeld.


Beyonce Ignores Doctor's Advice & Returns to Stage



Despite the advice of her doctor, Beyonce returned to the stage Wednesday night in Belgium after postponing her show the previous night due to illness.

The 31-year-old Single Ladies singer had cited dehydration and exhaustion as the reasons she postponed Tuesday's show in Antwerp, but she told the audience last night she wasn't about to miss another engagement. "I just have to say, I feel so good to be on this stage," said Beyonce.

Yoga may help ease high blood pressure



Hypertension numbers may be lowered when people engaged in a few sessions per week.

People who follow the ancient practice of yoga may be getting an added health boost, with a new study suggesting it can fight high blood pressure - also known as hypertension.

"This study confirms many people's feelings that exercise may be useful in the control of hypertension," said Dr Howard Weintraub, a cardiologist and associate professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. Weintraub was not connected to the new study.


Windows Phone overtakes BlackBerry to claim third place in 2013 smartphone shipments



Market research firm IDC just released its latest quarterly look at the smartphone market, and for the first time Windows Phone marketshare has eclipsed BlackBerry. During Q1 2013, Windows Phone devices accounted for 3.2 percent of all smartphones shipped, while BlackBerry devices made up 2.9 percent of the market. That's a change from last quarter, when Windows Phone made up 2.6 percent of all shipments, compared to 3.2 percent for BlackBerry. While that's good news for Microsoft in a relative sense — they've been trailing BlackBerry for third place for quite some time — it's pretty obvious that we still don't have a true third smartphone ecosystem that consumers are responding to yet.
