Nigerians, we
love our cars. From the high-end luxury cars like the Ferraris and
Porsches etc chances are the moment these cars are released into the market,
they’ll probably be sitting prettily in a garage somewhere in Nigeria by the
following week.
Top on the list
of the must-have cars is the Range Rover. No hip-hop artiste worth their
salt is complete until they’ve released a song raving
about their Range and the media also never hesitates to
announce the entrance of a celebrity into the Range Rover Hall of
Fame.
With the release of the 2013 model of the Range Rover HSE LUX (which has
already been sighted in Lagos by the way) priced on the Land Rover site at
$66,190 (over N10million), the good people at Land Rover have raised the stakes
even higher. While still retaining the box-like features which the
Range Rover series is known for, the 2013 Range Rover has a smoother and
rounder design which is reminiscent of the Evoque model.
Most
significantly however is the amazing weight loss the 2013 Range Rover has
undergone. Like all things trendy, the Range comes in a much lighter form than
its previous models, weighing 700 pounds less than it used to due to its
all-new aluminum suspension components. Its also has a
great terrain response off-road system which adjusts the
vehicles settings to automatically fit its environment. Here’s a
quick run-down of the distinctive features of the 2013 Range Rover HSE LUX as
well as some come-back feature appearances from the 2012 model:
- Increased engine power (276kw/375HP) to the previous standard aspirated 5-litre V8 engine
- ZF 8-speed automatic transmission
- 4.7inches extra of rear leg room
- Pop-up dial gearbox
- Parking and rear view camera
- Terrain response
- Automatic headlamps
- Key-less entry and push start button
- Centre console cooler box
So
who do you think is going to be the first Nigerian celebrity to own one?
