OWERRI — A socio-cultural organisation, Oganihu Owerri, has concluded arrangements to hand out appropriate punishment on lawmakers from Owerri senatorial zone found to be playing roles in the current impeachment saga against the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso.
The deputy governor had been accused of allegedly collecting N458 million from a contractor, JPROS International Limited, which eventually abandoned road project it was awarded.
This came as Imo State Transparency Network called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, weekend, to immediately prosecute the company and its management for offering bribe to the deputy governor and other officials of the state government.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, one of the leaders of Oganihu Owerri, Nze James Chinonyerem, confirmed that the group would move against lawmakers from Owerri zone, if they joined their colleagues from other senatorial zones to humiliate the deputy governor in an unjust manner.
Chinonyerem said: “Currently, we are liaising with other interest groups and bodies in Owerri to oppose this injustice. It is not just about Jude Agbaso but the interest of Owerri, fair play and justice, which we stand for”.
