Tom Cruise: I didn’t expect divorce

Actor opens up about split from Katie

TOM Cruise has spoken for the first time of his divorce from Katie Holmes — and admitted: “I hadn’t expected it.”

The superstar split from 34-year-old actress Katie in June just five days before his 50th birthday.

He told German TV: “Life is a challenge. You are 50 and you think you have everything in order and suddenly it hits you — that’s what life is all about.”

The celebrity couple had been married six years and had a daughter Suri, aged six.

While Suri remained with her mother in New York city the couple share custody.

Tom added: “Life is like a tragic comedy, you need a sense of humor.”

Cruise spoke out while promoting his latest sci-fi blockbuster Oblivion, which also stars Olga Kurylenko and Morgan Freeman.
