The children, aged between 5 and 12, suddenly fell ill Tuesday after eating lunch in the village of Gandamal located in Masrakh, which is 50 miles north of the state capital of Patna.
The lunch severd was rice, lentils, soybeans and potatoes. School officials immediately stopped serving the poisoned food once the children began to vomit.
The children were taken to a local hospital and then to Patna for treatment. 22 children died, 25 children and the school cook were taken to the hospital for treatment.
