Man’s hand saved after being attached to his ankle

Xiao Wei’s, from Changde, south-central China. lost his right hand in an industrial accident at work. In order to stop Wei’s severed hand from dying, his hand was attached to his ankle for a month before doctors successfully reattached it to his arm.

He said: ‘I was just shocked and frozen at the spot, until co-workers unplugged the machine and retrieved my hand and took me to the hospital’.

After being taken to a hospital, the doctors said they could re-attach the hand but after he had recovered from other injuries sustained in the accident.

He is believed to regain full function of his hand.
