The brand of phone
you uses can not only say a thing or two about your income and lifestyle, but can also indicate how intelligent you are too. How true can this be?
A
thousand smartphone users were challenged to take a series of online brain
teasers designed to test their mental agility.
iPhone
users were found to have the quickest wits of all, completing the test in 94
seconds, on average, while BlackBerry users were the slowest at 118 seconds.
The test was carried
out by UK bookmaker Ladbrokes who picked the participants from a list of people
who use its smartphone app.
The Test of Wits is made up of seven brainteasers designed to test problem solving skills, pattern recognition and code cracking.
Each
question has four possible answers and a participant has to select the correct
answer before moving onto the next teaser.
Example
questions include:
How many 9s are there between 1 and 100:
a)
19 b) 20 c) 9 d) 1 e) 14
How many months have 28 days:
a)
1 b) 12 c) 24 d) 10
How many legs do 2 dogs and 2 ducks have in
total?
a)
8 b) 10 c) 12 d) 14
Each
user is asked to select their make of handset before completing the test, and a
timer in the top right-hand corner records their speed.
A study in August found that iPhone owners are vainer and spend more on clothes and grooming than those who have BlackBerrys and Android phones.
BlackBerry
owners earn the most and are more likely to have long-term relationships, while
people with Android handsets have the best manners and are handy in the
kitchen.
