Nigerian Boxing Legend, Bashiru Lawrence Ali, popularly known as Bash Ali was on thursday manhandled by the security operatives of the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi.

57yr Old Bash Ali who is seeking to become the oldest man to hold a world boxing title defence had earlier taken his campaign to the PDP Headquarters in Abuja on May 20, 2013 to seek for National Endorsement for his defence bout to be staged in Nigeria but he was not allowed into the Party’s headquarters.

On Thursday, he jostled to get an audience with President Jonathan, who was at the Abuja National Stadium to inaugurate ‘Rhythm ‘N’ Play, a campaign to get all Nigerian youths engaged in sporting activities.

Shannon Rogers Guess Richardson was arrested Friday in connection with the mailing of ricin-laced letters to President Barack Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, NBC reports.

Guess Richardson lives in New Boston, Texas, and was arrested in Arkansas on charges that will be filed Friday afternoon, authorities told NBC.

According to an FBI affidavit obtained by the Associated Press, Richardson contacted authorities on May 30 to implicate her husband. She later failed a polygraph test and investigators also found inconsistencies in her story, the document said. Richardsonthen admitted mailing the letters knowing they contained ricin, but said her husband had typed them and made her print and send them.

 

Ubuntu May Replace Firefox with Chromium

It seems that the long cooperation between Linux users and Firefox is over, because the developers of Ubuntu are now talking about dropping the browser and switching to Chromium. Of course, the Linux users will still be able to run Firefox, but it won’t be the default browser. Nigeria: FG plans to ban pure water (Sachet Water) in 2014

Determined to check the continued despoliation of the environment, the Federal Government yesterday said plans are underway to ban the use of plastic bags in the country.  

Minister of Environment, Mrs. Hadza Mailafia, who dropped the hint during the 2013 World Environment Day celebration in Abuja, said government would favour the use of paper bags in their place.

Mailafia, who said the ban would take effect from January 2014, also said the Federal Government was also considering banning the use of sachet water.

Four Maryland abortion clinics shut down

Four Maryland abortion clinics have been shut down and three doctors have had their licenses suspended after a patient died at one clinic and regulators say they found lax procedures at all four.

A 66-YEAR-OLD man who went to the doctors with stomach ache got a shock - when he was told he was actually a WOMAN.

Stunned doctors realised the bearded patient was actually a woman when they found that the swollen belly was actually a large cyst on her ovary.

The subject suffered from two rare genetic disorders, one of which, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, increases male hormones meaning they had a beard and a "micropenis", the Hong Kong Medical Journal reported.

The other - Turner Syndrome - affects peoples X and Y chromosomes.

The patient, who grew up as an orphan, was found to have no testes, and stopped growing after puberty at the age of 10.
