Why Gym-goers regain weight after a workout

New study reveal that a quarter of gym users gain weight when they start exercising. Gym-goers add weight because they allow themselves a treat after working out.

The survey found that 39 per cent of people burn as little as 300 calories during each visit to the gym making them susceptible to weight gain if they then treat themselves to a high-calorie snack.

The survey found that regular gym sessions gave dieters a 'feeling of complacency' which made it more difficult for them to stick to their recommended daily calorie intake.

It found that 26 per cent of gym users actually put on weight after starting regular exercise.

Fairfax Financial Holdings has agreed to acquire BlackBerry in a deal worth $4.7 billion, both companies announced Monday.

The Toronto-based financial holdings conglomerate has agreed to pay $9 per share for the beleaguered mobile company — a premium of about 9%. Shares of BlackBerry were trading at $8.23 per share before a freeze was initiated.

Rumours: BlackBerry C-Series with 4G LTE coming soon

The supposed BlackBerry C-series “Cafe series” codenamed “Americano” will feature a QWERTY version and a touch screen version. Both will have tech specs which include a Snapdragon 400 CPU while the touch screen version could have a 4.2-inch screen with 720 x 1280 LCD resolution. Reason Nigeria Was Excluded From 2015 DV Lottery: U.S Consul-General

The United States Consul-General, Mr. Jeffery Hawkins, yesterday gave reasons Nigeria was excluded from the 2015 Diversity-Visa-Programme registration.

Hawkins told journalists at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, that Nigeria was among other countries that had in the last five years, sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the country through the programme.

“As at today, Nigerians have graduated from being under-represented to being a fully well represented group in the U.S.

“There is therefore no longer any need to encourage Nigerians to apply to travel to the U.S. through the Diversity-Visa-Programme. “Already there are too many Nigerians in the U.S. that have benefited from this programme,’’ he said.

Sometimes I sit down and try to take stock of my life and it's numerous stages. It amazes me to see how far I have come even in the midst of the storm. God is indeed faithful to those who love and serve him. Growing up was a bit funny for me outside the walls of my home. I grew up in a wonderfully balanced family with a lot of love and care from both my parents who were bankers, my older sisters who taught me so much and even my late kid brother even though his time was short. For some reason I thought there was something wrong with me and I will tell you why. 

I realized that, in school my name always came up whether or not I was a part of the issue. People just loved to talk about me, most of the time it was more negative than positive.

World youngest degree (equivalent diploma) holder: Piano star Curtis Elton, 9 year-old

Curtis gained an ATCL diploma - equivalent to a first-year degree - for his piano playing skills.

When Curtis Elton passed his Grade 8 music exam in piano last year, his parents and teachers were astonished. But this time, the nine-year-old has made history by becoming the youngest person in the world to receive a degree-equivalent diploma.

Research revealed that the dirtiest item in the average handbag is hand cream bottles, hand cream was found to carry more bacteria than the average toilet seat.

Lipstick and mascara packets were found to be little better.

The tests, carried out by Initial Washroom Hygiene, also revealed that leather handbags are the most bacteria-riddled as the spongy texture provides the perfect conditions for bacteria to grow and spread.

The researchers suggest that women should regularly clean their hands and bags with antibacterial wipes or gel to prevent cross-contamination.

Handbags come into regular contact with our hands and a variety of surfaces, so the risk of transferring different germs onto them is very high, especially as bags are rarely cleaned.

Two Cannibals arrested In Lagos, Nigeria

Yesterday an angry mob stri*ped unclad two men, Alaba Abiodun and Samuel, who were allegedly cannibals, as they were caught eating human flesh. The police who arrested the two men prevented the angry mob from setting them ablaze.

Earlier, a passer-by along the rail line in Ikeja saw three men in tattered dresses. One of them was making a call and one eating a meat suspected to be human flesh.

Does anyone know how I really feel right now? So alone and empty, God! how I feel the pain. If you're in the wilderness like me, then you know it can be insane. Here my eyes are bleeding tears and my smiles are protecting my fears. I can't even go around and fake happy, because I’m in stagnation and it is hitting me from all direction. There is this disturbing feeling that time is passing me by, yet I’m paralyzed, I can't move and I can't think too far. At nights I can't sleep too easy, my heart is sore and my mind perpetually clustered with things that leave me shaking. Oh God! Why? I have prayed, I have fasted but nothing has changed, and it's almost a year now. My dreams are nothing but nightmares of all the negatives in this wilderness. What's happening to me? Look at me, I have always enjoyed comforting and giving directions to people in pain, right now I can't even save myself and I have refused to take my own pills.
