Aimee McWilliams, 33-year-old fashion designer from London had never experienced any problems with them. However Aimee, like many people, had been wearing them for much longer - in her case, for more than 14 hours every day. 

This had slowly been starving her eyes of oxygen; while the damage wasn't apparent to the naked eye, it was spotted when the optometrist used a special microscope. Aimee was shocked to learn that she was in serious danger of losing her sight.

World Health Assembly (WHA) Okays use of traditional medicine

Report has it that:

A RESOLUTION for a better integration of the use of traditional medicine was among the proposals adopted as the 67th World Health Assembly (WHA) closed at the weekend.  

According to a press statement by the WHO, traditional medicine covers a wide variety of therapies and practices, which varies from country to country and region to region.

The statement reads: “The strategy aims to build the knowledge base for national policies and strengthen quality assurance, safety, proper use and effectiveness of traditional and complementary medicine through regulation. It also aims to promote universal health coverage by integrating traditional and complementary medicine services into health care service delivery and home care.”

Nissan to start producing their first made in Nigerian cars in April

Following Nigeria new automotive policy which was endorsed by many global automotive manufactures, Nissan is set to start producing their first made in Nigeria cars in April 2014. The automotive policy is aimed at reducing unemployment rate in the country.

Carlos Ghosn, the Chief Executive Officer of Nissan Motors, on 23rd January announced the production of Nigerian-made 4X4 Nissan motors as from April this year.

Red light can be annoying especially when you are in haste.

Audi is developing a system know as 'Traffic Light Assist' that shows drivers exactly how far their next red is, helping them time their drive to minimize stopping.

The display, in the dashboard in front of drivers, shows a traffic light icon  with a countdown timer that reads the number of seconds before a light changes from red to green.

Praising children with low self-esteem can do more harm than good. Says study

To some parent, praising children encourages them to improve, but a new study says otherwise. New study reveals that complimenting children with low self-esteem makes them feel under pressure to perform and so they avoid challenges.

The study’s authors, from British, Dutch and US universities, looked at how adults praise children and found that while it’s natural for parents to want to praise timid children more, it actually backfires.

Dubbed iOptik, the tiny ‘screens’ allows the users to see projected digital information, such as driving directions and video calls.

Thank you Lord for adding another year, 2013 so far has been wonderful. As I live and strive to achieve my goals in life, I pray for your love, favour, a helper, your guidance and exceeding grace to live right, do right and to live to love and forgive.

Words can’t really explain how grateful I am for this privilege, for being merciful upon me, for forgiving my sins and not taking your holy spirit away from me. Thank you Lord. I and my generation will forever worship you.

Nigerian’s you can now renew your U.S non-immigrant visa without visiting the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate in Lagos

According to Nigeria U.S Embassy report, Embassy Abuja announced a streamlined, more convenient drop box renewal process for non-immigrant visas today. 
Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements listed on our web sitemay apply for a renewal of their U.S. non-immigrant visa without visiting the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate in Lagos.  Applicants now simply apply online, print the renewal letter, pay the fee, and drop the letter, passport, application confirmation sheet, passport photos, and visa fee receipt at the appropriate DHL facility in Abuja or Lagos.
